A Tour of My Craft Studio (aka Organized Chaos with Sparkles)
Share
I always say my craft studio (aka my dining room) is part art lab, part cozy hideaway, and part rainbow explosion—and honestly, that feels right.
It’s where the magic happens (and by “magic” I mean sanding polymer clay at 10pm while watching YouTube videos and talking to my cat about color combos).
So, welcome! Kick off your shoes, mind the glitter, and let me take you on a quick tour of where Emaloe’s Thingys are born, baked, and sometimes accidentally dropped on the floor.
☀️ The View: Sunlight, Suncatchers & Sparkles

One of my favorite things about this space? The way the light hits just right in the afternoon.
I’ve filled the windows with handmade suncatchers—some in-progress, some sparkling proudly. When the sun comes through, it throws rainbow dots all over the walls, carpet, and yes, even my cat’s forehead. It’s like working inside a giant prism, and honestly? Vibes immaculate.

🎨 The Work Table: Chaos with a Grid Mat
This is my central command (chaos) station:
- My polymer clay tools (roller, cutters, texture sheets) live in clear containers so I can see everything at once
- Color-coded drawers hold slices, studs, and components in various stages of done-ness
- A big ol’ self-healing cutting mat keeps me semi-sane
- And yes, that’s a glitter explosion in the corner—I swear I’ll clean it up eventually
The whole setup is organized by vibe and reachability rather than traditional logic. Neurodivergent brains, you get it.
🪞The Shelf of of Crystals, Beads and Clay
Behold: the corner where color and chaos collide in the best possible way.
🧸 Studio Mascots: Yes, There Are Friends and Messages of Support
My studio isn't complete without the silent cheerleaders:
- Numerous squishy cat plushies (+ others) that guard my desk
- My favs are handmade by Comfortably Queer
- Artwork, pins and stickers with encouraging messages that give me strength
- Want your own - checkout these small business
- Paper Bunny Press (prints, stickers & More)
- Anatomical Element (pins)
- Kitty Valley Ranch or Color Oasis Hawaii (stickers & more)
- Want your own - checkout these small business
- And, of course, Ella the cat—who usually supervises all operations from atop the cat tower near the window.
- Want your own furry kitty companion - explore The Catcade or The Treehouse Chicago
They offer zero productivity help but 10/10 emotional support.
🧠 Sensory Zones (for My AuDHD Brain)
Being neurodivergent means my workspace has to flex with my brain. So I’ve carved out zones:
- A “get stuff done” desk with design journal, checklists and timers
- A view of the lake for calming breathes & fidget toys for when I am overstimulated
- And a “no thoughts, just sparkle” wall where finished pieces and inspiring art live
Sometimes I float between zones mid-task, and that’s okay. This studio isn’t just functional—it’s safe.
📦 Packing & Shipping Nook: Organized (Mostly)

Okay, it’s not the sexiest part of the studio, but it’s where the magic finishes.
I’ve got:
- Bubble mailers, bubble wrap & boxes galore
- Tissue paper that matches our logo
- A label printer that only jams when I’m running late
- A scale to weigh packages
- Every order gets packed with care, sparkle, and a lil’ sprinkle of chaos.
💬 Final Thoughts: This Space Is Me
My studio isn’t Pinterest-perfect. There are dust bunnies, beads in weird places, and half-finished projects in every corner.
But it’s mine. It’s the place where my weird brain gets to make joyful things—and where I remember, over and over again, that messy and magical can co-exist beautifully.
Thanks for stopping by.
Next time, bring snacks.
